‘Yeh Deepavali Yellow waali’

Campaign Context…

A Deepavali Village That Was Dimly Lit

The annual festival of Deepavali is defined by light and celebration. However, for a small village in Andhra Pradesh actually named Deepavali, the evenings were often shrouded in darkness, especially along its primary social hub.

This irony led Stanley Tools’ to think about doing something to change the ground reality. They designed a purpose-driven initiative, ‘Yeh Deepavali Yellow Waali’.

The Lakeside That Slept Early –

The village of Deepavali, located in the Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh, is synonymous with the famous festival. Yet, its most important public area – the scenic lakeside stretch – lacked adequate lighting.

Without streetlights, the area would turn pitch dark after sunset, leading to safety concerns and limiting evening activity. Residents preferred staying indoors, leaving the community space silent when darkness fell. In short, a place carrying the name of light lacked its true meaning.

Bringing Lasting Illumination –

Recognizing this core problem through on-site assessments and coordination with the Deepavali village panchayat, Stanley Tools launched the campaign.

The intervention was simple and lasting: the installation of 20 solar-powered lamp posts along the 600-meter lakeside. These lamps operate entirely on solar energy, ensuring that the light doesn’t fade with the festival.

The immediate impact was profound –

The project transformed darkness into a space of celebration and community togetherness. The sarpanch noted that the area now “shines bright and feels alive again,” with families gathering and socializing safely well into the evening.

The initiative was captured in a heartfelt digital film and amplified across major cities, highlighting the message that the true spirit of Deepavali lies in illumination that endures every single day.

‘Deepavali village carried the name of light, and now it carries its meaning,’ said Sridevi Vashdev Gwalani and Sandeep Jeganath, founders of the agency that partnered with Stanley Tools on the project, ‘This collaboration wasn’t about celebration alone; it was about creating something enduring that brings people together every day.’

Our analysis of the campaign…

First of all, we want to clarify something here. We confirmed from multiple sources that the company indeed executed the project on ground and it was not a fictional festivity promotion.

Stanley Tools don’t just build tools, they stand for something –

The choice of solar lighting was intentional, symbolizing the brand’s commitment to engineering practical, enduring solutions that improve everyday life.

The best part of this initiative is that it isn’t temporary. The lamps are powered by solar energy and continue to brighten the village every single night, long after the diyas and fairy lights have disappeared. It’s a reminder that the true spirit of Deepavali lies in lighting up lives, not just homes.

Stanley Tools turned a simple celebration into something people will remember long after the festival. The brand that usually builds tools to make work easier ended up building something that made life brighter.

Today, when the sun sets in Deepavali village, the lights turn on automatically. The lakeside glows softly, families step out, and conversations flow late into the night. What was once darkness is now a celebration that doesn’t end with the festival.

Lessons to learn –

Through the campaign, Stanley Tools highlights how it that brightens lives, during the festival and beyond.

The important takeaway here is that the brand could have just ran a fictional festival promotion like so many other brands, but it chose to take action that not only tells or shows but goes the way as a testament to the brand stand of the company.

The brand purpose is to build lasting impact and empowers tradesmen through practical innovation and the action of the brand really proves it to its customers that this is a brand that truly stands for something it believes in.

The work it has done in a small village does not remain insignificant. Through influencer marketing on social media and outdoor ads, they spread it throughout the country, letting their prospects know what a solid brand they are. Any consumer would instantly develop affinity towards the brand.

The brand took action and connected with their customers on their brand stand, ditching the traditional approach of focusing on the differentiation, instead it embraced the modern approach of shaping its brand by establishing deeper emotional connection with its customers.

And that’s how you should build your brand today.
